Juror B-29.  Bernardo's approach is noticeably more calm that it was with B-12, perhaps influenced by watching O'Mara.

Moved to the area from Chicago about 4 months ago.  Sounds like a black or hispanic female.

Self-described Facebook fanatic.  She's married.  Claims to know nothing about the case.

B-29 says she doesn't believe news, that's why she doesn't watch it.

West questioning B-29.

West asks about TV habits. She's mostly repeating what she's already said.

She works with Alzhiemer's patients, who can't discuss much of anything. Her co-workers don't speak English well.

B-29 says jury service won't be a hardship for her, even if the trial goes two months.

West explaining sequestration. B-29 says that might be a problem. She has small children.

West questions for the defense.  This prospect also works third shift.  She watched WGN in Chicago.  She doesn't know what the news channels are in Fla.  She works in a nursing home.  She describes the facilities for completing questionnaires, no tables.  Her patients have dementia, so they won't remember the case.  Co-workers don't speak much English, she doesn't read newspapers, only watches teevee for weather.  West asks "what is your source of news?"  She says, "nothing."  "I worry about my kids and my job."  This is the first time she has ever been called for jury duty.

She came here from a work-home-shower-court , no sleep since whenever she got up to go to work yesterday.  Her boss says if she is going to be in court for a few days, the boss is okay with it.  Beyond that, unknown.  If the trial goes for weeks, is that hardship?  No, she says, she works part time, but her husband is the breadwinner.  Has 18 year old son, 19 year old son, big family.  She doesn't know if jury duty is mandatory or voluntary.  West then puts that in the hardship form, and she says it would not be a hardship.  Next question is if she knows what "sequestered" means.  She doesn't.  That might be a problem for her.  19, 18, 14, 10, and a set of 3 y/o twins.  Yeah, big family.  She would prefer not to be sequestered for two months if this is voluntary.  But, if she has to, then the family will cope.  She goes on to say that she wouldn't mind doing the jury duty, even sequestered.

I wonder if West is married.  If so, he's probably familiar with this sort of "answer."

BDLR objected to a question. Overruled. West repeating it. He's asking if she can give Zimmerman a fair trial even though the victim was 17.

She says everyone deserves a fair trial.

BDLR objects again. Overruled.

She first heard of the case from friends in Chicago. They 'took sides' because the victim was a child. She didn't comment, people soon stopped talking about it.

ETA: She says she wasn't influenced by the conversations. Conversation about it stopped when it wasn't in the news anymore.

BDLR objected to West asking if she could be confident voting not guilty if the case wasn't proved. BDLR objected. Nelson sustained, told West there would later be an appropriate time for such questions.

Next potential juror coming in.

A man. He says he is hard of hearing.

B-30.

De la Rionda asks how he feels about being called B-30. He says he'd rather be 30 that be 65, and everyone laughs.

He doesn't watch news.

ETA: He doesn't watch news because he isn't interested, it's mostly bad.

He knows Trayvon was in Sanford spending time with his dad. There was a scuffle and a gun went off.

A male juror, a little hard of hearing.  Heh.

B-30.  He's been given a speaker or some device that has a volume knob on it.  "I'd rather B 30 than B 65, which I am."  Laughter all around.

Claims he didn't follow the case, doesn't watch news teevee.  Doesn't watch news because it's too much negative things.  Bernie asks did you watch this in Feb 2012 or recently?  B 30 says, "Yes sir."

Knows that Martin was in Sanford, thinks to visit his dad.  Defendant came in contact with Martin, there was a scuffle, gun went off.  He was asked by a news reporter, while at dinner with a girlfriend, what his opinion was.  Amazing.  The press is out interviewing people.  Anyway, he says he told the press he didn't know anything about the case.

His friends told him he might have been called for this case. They had opinions. He tried not to listen, left the room.
