O'Mara asks if B-30 remembers why the media was so interested in the case. He says not.

B-30 doesn't remember what his friends thought. Thinks they all said the same as he, that they don't know enough to have an opinion.

O'Mara presses on whether B-30 had any opinion. He says he thought there must have been fault on both sides.

He was grieving his wife's death during this time.

O'Mara mentions that Trayvon's family was grieving too. Feels a bit flip to me, but I see his point is whether that engaged B-30's interest.

He knows there was a 911 call, people were trying to figure out who was screaming. That's what he's heard last few days. He has seen O'Mara on TV a couple of times.

Did W-30 feel commonality with the grieving of Trayvon's family? He note similarities and differences.

W-30 remembers Trayvon was in some kind of trouble, which was the reason he was in Sanford.

That didn't seem responsive to O'Mara's question, something about how he would guard against his sympathy for Trayvon's family influencing him.

Juror prospect says his impression (from teevee and friends) is there is fault on both sides.  The juror was preoccupied with the death of his wife for the last year.  At this point, he doesn't have an opinion.  O'Mara says sorry for your loss, and notices that the Martin family had a loss too.  This triggers a memory in the prospective juror of seeing Martin's mother on the news maybe half a year ago.

Knows there was a 911 call.  Recently heard that there was an attempt to figure who was screaming on the 911 call.  Heard the past few days on the news.  Has seen O'Mara on the news.  His teevee starts up on channel 13 news, which is a default startup for some cable setup.

Admits he sympathized with Martins on loss of child.  O'Mara says that is human and expected.  O'Mara seeks the prospect's explanation of how he would guard against sympathy swaying his decision.  Prospect recalls that Martin was in some trouble in Miami, that's why he was in Sanford, but he needs more facts before he can reach a conclusion.

B-30 heard 3 or 4 seconds of screaming on 911 recording, in passing. It sounded like a woman to him. Doesn't really have an opinion on who it was.

His girlfriend said she thought GZ should have stayed in his car.

O'Mara wants to know more. GF was talking to her daughter.

They said GZ called 911 or people on the watch or police, and they said stay in car. That's all he recalls they said.

If evidence conflicts with what he heard, if evidence shows he was out of the car, and BDLR objects. Nelson tells O'Mara to keep it more general.

B-30 said he would listen to the facts. He wouldn't give any weight to the opinions of his GF and the daughter.

It's B-30's daughter. I misheard earlier that it was the GF's daughter.

He's heard the 911 call, says he thinks the screamer sounds like a woman.  ;-)

His GF's opinion is that Zimmerman should have stayed in his car, and that would have alleviated the whole thing.  The GF was talking with GF's daughter.  His GF and daughter, "that's all they talked about."  Zimmerman had made a call to 911 or police, and GF thought Zimmerman should have stayed in the car.

Nelson, at Bernardo's objection, steers O'Mara away from couching a question in terms of an issue in the case (if Zimmerman wasn't told to stay in the truck, and the evidence was otherwise ...), but he could ask the question in general terms.  Good call by Nelson.   Prospect said he would give no weight to what he heard outside of court.

Says the jokes at home were how to get out of jury duty, and they said he should just say "What?" and demonstrate his hearing impairment.

I miscalled B-30 as W-30 several times. I corrected most of them, but too late for a couple.

Retired.  Plays golf.  Would not mind serving on the jury.  A few points that weren't captured, might be of interest for the brief record here.

I took a break. Looks like they're through with B-30. Long sidebar.

Nelson thanked B-30 and dismissed him. Next one coming in.
