WFTV 9

WESH 2

News 13

Good morning.

I'm on the beat until the lunch break.

I was on my own yesterday. Those are the breaks, but it's not the plan. Anyone watching or listening to the proceedings is invited to contribute their observations.

I haven't found the live feed at Legal Insurrection. Anyone who has is welcome to post a link.

It will be in a post titled Zimmerman Trial Live Jury Selection Day 7 or similar. Pretty easy to find if reading comprehension means anything.

It doesn't really amount to much. Vid stream and a twitter box containing live tweets from selected reporters and experts.

H-81's questionnaire says he watches CNN.

He watches WESH locally.

He watches MSNBC on line.

He recalls GZ and TM in incident, TM dead, tragic situation.

Many talked about it at the time, including his family and friends.

He hasn't followed the case.

H-81 has heard news about case off and on.

He doesn't always believe media. They mix opinion with fact. True of both local and national TV.

He heard some commentary on TV.

He recalls talking heads on In Session. His wife watches that show a lot.

She thinks most commentators are just expressing opinions. He wasn't there, and neither were commentators.

He recalls seeing Bernie and O'Mara in news. Mostly press conferences, not in court.

H-81 would give the attorneys a little more weight than from those not involved.

Of course O'Mara is biased for his client.

H-81 agrees that anything he heard before trial is irrelevant.

He believes the rules of court protect the presentation of facts.

He doesn't recall seeing any photographs.

He recalls something about recordings.

He recalls commentary about a 911 call and sounds in background. He has not heard the call itself.

Media recently reported interest in expert opinions about call.

He recalls that it was a remains a high-profile, polarizing case. It's made national news and impacted the community.

He has not formed an opinion on guilt or innocence.

His impression was that there was a grieving family, and another grieving the potential loss of a loved one, and supporters on both sides. He did not find fault in people expressing themselves. The commentary would not in influence him.

He may seen some posts in FaceBook on the case. He has not posted on the case. He hasn't seen anything on YouTube about the case.

He occasionally reads on-line version of Orlando Sentinel, doesn't recall anything there about case.

He would say it was about a young man who was killed in an interaction with another man, resulting in a murder trial.

He recalls recently a series of news events about recordings, and about a continuance of the trial.

H-81 repeats he hasn't followed the case.

General story in media was GZ was involved in some kind of community watch. Those activities led to the incident. TM was coming home from a store with candy.

H-81 isn't auditioning for job of juror. His approach to all criminal cases in news is to reserve judgment. Sometimes he is attacked for that.

H-81 says serving on a sequestered jury would be a big inconvenience, but he could do it.

O'Mara up.

O'Mara explaining purpose of proceedings.

He asked H-81 to repeat that he has formed no opinion, and can leave what he has heard outside the courtroom. He did.

Nelson reminded everyone to put cell phones on vibrate, she was prepared to throw people out.

H-81 tells an anecdote about his earlier jury service, to illustrate that he understands he is to disregard anything not presented in court.

He wonders what happens to jurors after high-profile cases.

O'Mara says judge may address that at some point, goes on to give his own explanation of the procedures protecting the jurors' anonymity.
