Bernie is done. Court in 15 minute recess. I wish I could watch the defense, but I have other work to attend to.

Several jurors appeared uncomfortable with the exchange about what sequestration meant. One juror wanted to know if they would be the only ones who couldn't go home on weekends (as opposed to the lawyers, court staff etc.)

19 of the jurors have guns. Bernie asked whether any belonged to the NRA.  I didn't hear the answers.

The last several questions by Bernie were all closed ended/lecture types on the law: "You would agree wouldn't you that...."

Great move by MOM getting his time in a single block.

MOM seems to have asked to question hardship juror instead of starting with a tired jury and being interrupted.

Questioning P-67 alone. He doesn't want media present but it couldn't be done. P-67's wife is concerned that he was referred to by number and make her fearful. Thinks case will have insurmountable hardship because of finances.

Felt labeled "Mexican" instead of "citizen" or "resident."

MOM: By this conversation maybe the media will learn to be more culturally sensitive.

[This was I was inartfully expressing in another thread when using the acronym EASL, which I probably applied to this juror and citizen.]

MOM seems trying to allay the candidate's fears. I guess he want's the state to use a strike but this candidate is probably already done.

Stutzman tweeted this yesterday.

So the prosecution, rather than the supposedly neutral court, gets to "dress the stage"?
