http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/189031f4-1106-41a1-b32e-bc2235f0b773Wednesday, February 07, 2007 The Edwards Blogger: The Endgame is Afoot (With Update!) Posted by: Dean Barnett at 9:24 AM The Grey Lady has officially waddled in and taken notice of John Edwards’ potty-mouthed blogger. According to the Times: Mr. Edwards’s spokeswoman, Jennifer Palmieri, said Tuesday night that the campaign was weighing the fate of the two bloggers. (Apparently, the Edwards campaign hired another blogger in addition to the suddenly notorious Amanda Marcotte who has said some stuff the campaign now wishes to disavow. Way to go, you crazy “Two Americas” kids.) I had thought the denouement of L’Affaire Marcotte would be Marcotte resigning and the nutroots exploding with one of its characteristically dignified paroxysms of indignation. Now I’m predicting that Edwards will use this as an opportunity to tack rightward, trodding on the freshly expired political corpse of Amanda Marcotte to do so. He will explain how her over-eager blog postings offended his simple Southern sensibilities. Where Edwards comes from, they still say “Ma’am” and “Yessir,” not “F**k Bushco!!!!” This will anger the Nutroots. The Nutroots feel that Democrats should always fight, even if they’re completely in the wrong. The sorry spectacle of the Edwards campaign caving in to the likes of me will not please the left half of the blogosphere. As L’Affaire Marcotte nears its inevitable conclusion, I can’t decide who was dumber, Marcotte or the Edwards campaign. On the one hand I can’t believe that Marcotte had become so comfortable in the left wing echo chamber that she actually believed her past didn’t preclude her from publicly entering a mainstream presidential campaign. On the other hand, I really can’t believe that the Edwards campaign apparently didn’t vet a high profile hire. Anyway, it’s time to put together our first HughHewitt.com pool. In the comments section, name the date and time when Amanda Marcotte and the Edwards campaign irrevocably part ways. The winner will receive a free corned beef sandwich from the Palm Beach Gardens Toojay’s (tax, gratuity, and beverage not included). I’ve got this Friday at 9:13 a.m. UPDATE: Michelle Malkin's latest HotAir Masterpiece Theatre tribute to Marcotte is must-see blogging. Michelle immerses herself in the role in a way that would make Miss Meryl Streep jealous. She becomes Amanda Marcottte. Compliments? Complaints? Contact me at Soxblog@aol.com.

I'd prefer the Toojay's on US1 next to The Bluffs development in Jupiter (in that Publix shopping center) if it's still there?

I can't understand why Edwards hired her.
Her constant profanity is sort of amusing and doesn't bother me at all. But in the interest of full disclosure I'll say that I'm Catholic. I've never been that sensitive about it though. Nothing Madonna ever did bothered me and I got used to the idea of the cow dung Virgin Mary so I was convinced that nothing Marcotte said about Catholics would bother me. But you know, after following a link to one of her rants about Catholics, I have to admit that one thing she said really did bug me. She pushed it a little too far, even for me. I don't know what Edwards was thinking.

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/02/07/edwardss-blogger-blooper/February 7, 2007, 11:51 am Edwards’s Blogger Blooper By Kate Phillips The efforts by 2008 presidential contenders to exploit the megaphone of the blogosphere has hit a bump, it seems, as former Senator John Edwards’s hiring of two controversial bloggers gathers more attention than his health care plan or even his new McMansion spread in North Carolina. We are catching up a bit on the controversy. We first saw a kernel of this mentioned on Instapundit last week, when one of the two new bloggers, Amanda Marcotte, was supposedly caught by some other bloggers “airbrushing” some of her cruder language out of a post at her site, Pandagon. The campaign also hired Melissa McEwan of Shakespeare’s Sisters. But now, both are under the spotlight, or rather the glare, with at least one blogger (Dean Barnett over at TownHall.com) taking up a pool as to when the two might be fired by Mr. Edwards. Some are counting the hours.

If Amanda and Pam get let go by the campaign, it will be because of their perceived anti-Catholic positions, TL, how many times does a person have to ridicule Catholics before you accept that they are anti-Catholic and not just perceived anti-Catholic?

Have the anti-Mormans are already been snapped up by the other candidates?

Has Marcotte made any attempt to find out the facts of th Duke case, TL? Have you offered to give her some information?

I, too, would like you to answer that, TL. You support her overall message. I do not, but if she believes in what she said, if she meant it when she said it, then what is your explanation of Ms. Marcotte's tail between her legs retraction and abandonment of her words?
