I think it is a safe bet that the Commitee for Fairness to Duke Families who hired Bennent to handle PR also financially support Duke Students for an Ethical Durham.
A "safe bet"? I guess the only people who are required to provide citations are those who criticize Nifong. If there is no evidence for the allegation, it should be retracted.

Just speaking from the experience of being reamed a new one for being rude a few times, when just trying to mind my business and get a job done.

Rude or not, no way would I shake Nifong's hand. I wonder if Precious ever "shook his hand."

I'll never forget a scene from the mini series "Lonesome Dove." This guy from Texas visciously beats the cr** out of a guy (who deserved it of course) and says "I can't stand rudeness in a person."

I find it laughable that some are trying to make a perfectly reasonable response to an entirely unreasonable request sound rude.
It is a FACT That Mike Nifong has been denigrating and disrespectful to the entire Duke student body in any number of speeches which have been widely published.
The essence of TRUE politeness and civility is an attempt to NEVER make another person feel uncomfortable, a social way to reduce friction, not cause turmoil. A basic respect for the feelings of others which is markedly absent in this case.
There was NOTHING truly polite or civil about Nifong confronting those students. Had he been truly polite he would have simply avoided them, since he knew he had made some truly disrespectful and hurtful comments about them, and to force them into a position of appearing to "be friendly with him" after that was nothing at all even close to polite and civil, but rude, arrogant and obnoxious....he didn't get what he truly deserved for such hubris, but he didn't get a handshake or a photo op
In that respect they were truly polite.....they simply ignored his ignorant faux pax.

Given the comments he made about why the LAX players may have chosen to wear condoms during the "rape," Nifong probably would have been willing to shake Precious' hand only if he'd had some type of sterile protective covering over it.

Hmm.which will influence more votes ? Duke students refusing to shake the D.A.'s hand or the revelations of Precious fellow underground sex trade workers that the whole episode is a shakedown by a drug addled stripper being enabled by a D.A. running for election ? Remember, a vote for Nifong is an endorsement of the Durham illicit sex industry.

hmm...
Duke students unsupervised playground=wee wee in bushes, loud music, broken beer bottles.
Nifong/DPD/City of Durham unsupervised playground=underground sex trade, gunrunners fronting "escort" services, racist cops, dishonest DA's office.

Do you have links that show that as a whole student body Duke students, commit more crimes, drink more or are far more disruptive than NCCU students? Is there any actual statistic that will show that Duke students "don't behave" in much greater numbers than other Universities?
With such a wonderful, welcoming attitude perhaps Duke does need to relocate. I am not going to say that college students as a group do not have those who drink too much, are disruptive, and/or commit crimes, but I also am not going to single out Duke students and Nifong, and you and apparently the rest of Durham has done, and brand them with the mark of troublemakers, unless it can be proven that they misbehave in excess of the average comparable size college campus.

My feeling this is not going to go well for Duke. Many parents would not want to send their kids to Duke after the lacrosse mess. Brodhead cowardly threw the students under the bus. We just have to wait and see how much Duke is going to pay for it. I don't know about others, but I know if it were me, my child would out of there and away from that school so fast their sneakers would leave skid marks. I agree that the administration threw the entire LX team under the bus, and the remarks from Nifong at the start of the case was basically insulting and degrading to the entire student body, and most specifically to the LX team. The admission by DPD that there was an agenda to crack down on Duke students, and that they were arrested more often for the same infractions that would have been taken care of by simply writting a ticket would have been the last straw if any were needed. I would not want to send my child to any community who had so clearly demonstrated that they were content to treat them as "outsiders" and "yankees" and basically "second class citizens", while the school looked on and did nothing.... I think you are right, the school is going to suffer, and money which would naturally circulate into the community is not going to be the only thing that will hurt.

Fortunately most of Duke's undergraduates live on campus so they are vomiting in their own flowerbeds and peeing out the windows of University owned housing. Maybe a few no vomiting and no public urination signs placed along the Duke wall would improve community relations.Get rid of Duke. They are hideous. How much you must suffer knowing they are out their peeing in their flower beds? Demand it relcates ASAP. Getting the offending students to act civilized might be a better solution.
